I am currently in school to be a travel agent. The goal was to be a home based travel agent and have my own business. I currently work in a travel agency sorta its limited to cruises, tours, resorts etc. Its a large call center and the commision ***** anywhere from 5.00 per booking to 50.00 per booking making min wage on top of that. I want my own I just got done working 4 years in the airline industry and I am familiar with the computer programs for delta continental and jet blue I also worked in a hotel reservation center best western for a year when i was younger. Are there any opportunities out there or am I wasting my time. Travel industry is my passion and im willing to give it my all just not sure what offers are legit and which are scams. I am a little knowledgeable when it comes to airline tickets but im no expert. I was wondering I wanted a price on just two tickets for some of my family members but I can’t get no better then 500 for 2 round trip tickets. I have tried priceline,expedia, and all of those websites and not one is really offering anything less then that. Am I better off booking through a travel agent ? or I have heard about intel travel and I could become an independent agent and get 50 percent off on tickets? What’s the best place to buy plane tickets? and how can I score deals????
